About The Lions

Who Are The Lions, Lions are ordinary men and women, from all walks of life, that care for their community And want to take the opportunity to give something back. Our motto of which we are very Proud is “We Serve”. Lions are members of Lions Club International, the world’s premiere

Community service organisation, dedicated to the idea that men and women who live in a Community are in the best position to know who needs help and why. Local clubs are part of the world’s largest such organisation, with 1.4 million members serving in more than 200 countries.

The association is non- political and non sectarian.

Wroxham & Hoveton Lions Club was formed in 1976 and covers the parishes of Wroxham, Hoveton, Salhouse, Rackheath, Horstead, Coltishall, Ashmanhaugh, Tunstead, Neatishead and Horning. Our membership currently stands at 16 and we are always looking out for new members. The club meets at 8pm on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month in the Broadland Youth & Community Centre, Stalham Road, Hoveton and all are welcome.

We are a very active club and whilst our charity shop situated in the Riverside Precinct, Hoveton is our main source of income, additional funds are raised through craft fairs. our precinct tombola the mobile tombola and our street collections. During December our Santa sleigh visits the villages in our area as well as Roy’s of Wroxham and Tesco’s Stalham.

However the largest fundraising event is our annual Charity Motor Show & Family Fun Event, which is now in its 9th year and since 2013 is held at the Norfolk Showground, Costessy, Norwich,  NR5 0TT, 2016 will see the show return to its normal dates and will be held on 13th/14th August, so please support our causes and help the Lions celebrate their 40th anniversary in style

The proceeds from this event are divided equally between The East Anglian Air Ambulance and one other main Charity and the Lions Charity fund. Because the Lions do not have any paid executives and members give their time freely we can ensure that, after the deduction of essential expenses all monies raised throughout the year are distributed to many local charities and worthy causes that we support.

We can only make these donations because of your generosity.
